Shin Norman

William Rufus "Shin" Norman (born March 3, 1886) was a Negro Leagues pitcher for several years before the founding of the first Negro National League.
The 20-year-old Norman was pitching for Topeka Jack Johnson's Topeka Giants when the team toured Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Kansas in 1906.〔("Topeka Giants Defeated Scranton" Topeka Daily Capital, Topeka, Kansas, Sunday, September 9, 1906, Page 2, Column 2 )〕 The tour included several games in Chicago, including one with the Leland Giants,〔("Black Champions of the West" Topeka Plaindealer, Topeka, Kansas, Friday, September 14, 1906, Page 3, Columns 6 and 7 )〕 a team Norman would move to in the next season.〔
He pitched for the Leland Giants,〔 the Chicago Union Giants,〔("Union Giants Take Revenge on Triumphs" Omaha World-Herald, Omaha, Nebraska, Monday, July 28, 1913, Page 5, Column 7 )〕 and the Kansas City Giants.
